I have been taking Finasteride for about 1.5 years. It was originally used as a treatment for hair loss (male pattern hair loss). I was diagnosed with a hair loss problem from early 2000, after losing an amazing amount of hair and a new face (not a lot of hair, just normal skin and a small area of the scalp) and it took about 6 months to see any benefit. I had tried the oral pill for a couple of years, but as my hair loss was getting worse, it became increasingly difficult to manage. I decided to go on a series of hair transplant/hair transplant surgery and then tried the oral Finasteride. It has been a very long time in my life, and I have gained about 20 lbs and am now 20 years old. I have had to limit my daily consumption of grapefruit juice as well, so my intake of alcohol has decreased. I have tried all forms of topical minoxidil and Finasteride for over a year now, and they are both effective, but I also have severe headaches and dizziness. My hair loss is not as severe as it was initially thought, but I am starting to see some improvement in my hair and skin. I will continue to have the Finasteride in my daily routine as well, but I am trying to be as effective and as simple as possible. I am currently using 1/2 a day, and I am still a little lossy at times. My question is, do I need to stop taking Finasteride, or will I start getting a full head of hair back on?
